Jones’ 2021- 22 Senate Fellow Starts This Week

Emily Ann Miller begins one-year fellowship in State Capitol

Sacramento, CA – State Senator Brian Jones (R-Santee) announced that Emily Ann Miller started this week as a Senate Fellow in his Capitol Office.

“Emily brings an extensive and enthusiastic background to our team,” said Senator Jones.  “She was raised in the Modesto area of the Central Valley, served in student government at Sonoma State University, held a position in former Congressman Jeff Denham’s campaign, worked at a prominent Sacramento Public Relations firm (Bicker, Castillo & Fairbanks), and was a competitive gymnast. We look forward to a fun and rewarding year helping her learn about the Legislature and her helping us represent the residents of East and North San Diego County.”

As a Senate Fellow, Emily will primarily be assisting with coordinating Senator Jones’ legislative portfolio as well as reviewing legislative measures coming up for vote in committees and on the Senate Floor.

“I sincerely appreciate being able to join Team Jones,” said Emily Miller.  “Learning about the California Legislature, working with Senator Brian Jones and the experienced staff, and serving the people of Senate District 38 is a great opportunity.”

The Senate Fellows Program annually selects 18 individuals to serve as paid staff for 11 months. Each fellow is assigned to work in a Senator’s Office or a Senate Committee Office. Many graduates of this prestigious program continue working in the California Legislature – some even becoming members themselves – while others may decide to pursue more education or go into the private sector.
