Jones' Senate Fellow Starts Today

Brixton Layne begins one-year fellowship in State Capitol

Sacramento, CA – State Senator Brian Jones (R-Santee) announced that Brixton Layne started today as a Senate Fellow in his Capitol Office.

“Brixton brings a diverse background and wide variety of experiences to our team,” said Senator Jones.  “He was raised in the farming community of Sanger in the Central Valley, worked for a private land developer in Fresno, interned for a Congressman in Washington D.C., studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and received his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from UC Davis. We look forward to guiding him to have a successful year learning about the Legislature and helping us represent the residents of East and North San Diego County.”

As a Senate Fellow, Brixton will primarily be assisting with coordinating Senator Jones’ legislative portfolio as well as reviewing legislative measures coming up for vote in committees and on the Senate Floor.

“It is an honor to be joining Team Jones,” said Brixton Layne.  “I look forward to learning about how the Legislature works from Senator Brian Jones and his experienced staff, and I am excited to serve the people of Senate District 38.”

The Senate Fellows Program annually selects 18 individuals to serve as paid staff for 11 months. Each fellow is assigned to work in a Senator’s Office or a Senate Committee Office. Many graduates of this prestigious program continue working in the California Legislature – some even becoming members themselves – while others may decide to pursue more education or go into the private sector.
