Media Advisory - Free Youth Heart Screening Event

Senator Brian Jones will join the Eric Paredes Save A Life Foundation at free youth heart screening event, promote partnership on bill to increase heart screenings

Who? Senator Brian W. Jones (R-Santee), Eric Paredes Save A Life Foundation  

What? A free heart screening event that will help save youths’ lives by identifying abnormal heart rhythms and heart structure.  

Jones will speak about his partnership with the Eric Paredes Save A Life Foundation on his Senate Bill 1135 to increase these youth heart screenings.                                  

Where? El Cajon Valley High School, 1035 East Madison Avenue, El Cajon, CA 92021 

When? Sunday, June 5, 2022, 9:00am.                     

Jones will give introductory remarks at 9:00am and will be available to speak about heart screenings and SB 1135 with the media until 9:45am.                       

Why? One in 300 children have an undetected heart condition. Youth heart screening events help with early identification of a heart condition and can save lives.  

Jones’s SB 1135 will establish a pilot program to increase youth heart screenings at both public and private schools. The bill was unanimously approved by the State Senate and is awaiting assignment to an Assembly policy committee for hearing.
