Senator Jones’ Statement on Gun Safety

California has over 100 gun control laws on the books, many of them forced through the Legislature on party-line votes.  I think a partisan approach on major issues does a disservice to everyone.

Recently, a bipartisan group of four U.S. Senators – John Cornyn (R-Texas), Chris Murphy (D-Connecticut), Krysten Sinema (D-Arizona), and Thom Tillis (R-North Carolina), forged a consensus gun safety-measure that will help get guns out of the hands of those who shouldn’t have them while ensuring the rights of Americans who safely use firearms.

Their efforts led to bipartisan votes in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives to enact the ‘Bipartisan Safer Communities Act’ which has been hailed as the most significant gun safety measure to be approved in decades.

I support this type of commonsense, bipartisan approach to problem solving.
