Sens. Jones, Seyarto issue statement on rearrest of dangerous SVP Alvin "Bolder Than Most Rapist" Quarles

Today, Senate Minority Leader Brian W. Jones (R-San Diego) and Senate Republican Caucus Chair Kelly Seyarto (R-Murrieta) issued the following statement on the arrest of sexually violent predator and transient Alvin Ray Quarles who was taken in to custody after violating the terms of his conditional release from Coalinga State Hospital where he had been committed following a 25-year prison sentence and designated as a sexually violent predator.

“This keeps happening and will continue until the majority party comes to its senses about the need for sweeping, comprehensive reform to the way our state handles these sexually violent predators.

This violent rapist was released to roam free in our community and has failed to demonstrate the basic restraint needed to remain in compliance with his release.

Communities like ours cannot continue to be used as dumping grounds for criminals. Our communities deserve better.

We will keep advocating to reform California’s broken sexually violent predator release program and continue to fight for the people of California to be protected.”
