Senator Brian W. Jones (R-Santee), City of San Diego officials and public works crews put the final touches on two newly designated disabled parking spaces in front of the Warrior Foundation Freedom Station this morning.
“We love it when a plan comes together,” boomed Senator Brian W. Jones, in paraphrasing John “Hannibal” Smith of The A-Team TV Show. “Helping veterans and their families is one of the most important things government can do. As you see here today, when elected officials and their staffs’ work together, we can move mountains. Or in this case, we can get the paint rolling.”
Besides Jones and the work crews, other officials and dignitaries in attendance included Rodney Williams, Supervisor of the City’s Public Works Department, and Sandy Lehmkuhler and Bill Lennert of the Warrior Foundation Freedom Station.
The Warrior Foundation Freedom Station is a unique transitional housing residence that provides injured veterans with the acclimation time, guidance, and resources to successfully make their transition from military service to civilian life. Warrior Foundation Freedom Station is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization proudly operated by a dedicated staff and volunteer corps.
The successful effort to get two designated disabled parking spots in front of the Freedom Station are the result of numerous meetings and discussions among veterans, city officials, and state legislators.
